Alexandra saw slaves from the other estates also preparing for departure, carrying pillows over their heads for protection against the falling debris. Mercy? Pt 7Despite the fear of danger racking at the back of her brain, Alexandra went about her business happily. For the first time since she was taken from her home in Naples, she was happy. She had her work laid out well for her and all evil seemed to be settled. The other slaves took well to her example and also became well satisfied with whatever task was at hand. Still, what probably made her happiest aside from her happy home and her work caring for Sabia was the constant joy that came with the new relationship with her master. She almost feared turning around, wondering if her prayer would be fulfilled if she did. Still, she slowly turned her head to look behind her, to know what this was.
